From making her own clothes in high school to adorning her first apartment in college with homemade curtains and pillows, Bailey has been sewing for as long as she can remember. When she started cloth diapering her kiddos, she was pretty frustrated with all of the diapers that she tried. None of them had all the right features or they were way out of her price range (I can totally relate to that...). Now, not only does she get to make diapers the way she wants them, she also gets to spend every day at home with her kids! I love her story! It makes me want to go un-clutter our office space so I can use my sewing machine more than once in a blue moon! ;)
Bailey sent me one of her organic AI2 diapers with a bamboo insert and a hemp doubler. You all know how much I love all things organic!! Plus, with both inserts in, the diaper is just as trim, if not more so, than all of the other diapers I have! And I absolutely love the color. Isn't it gorgeous:
My sunshine diaper is what I call it! ;) |
Baby Girl is going to be adorable. Just hope yellow goes well with her skin tone. ;) |
Almost looks like an empty diaper sitting there since it is so trim! Look at this:
SO thin! |
One of my favorite factors: the inside of the cover can easily be wiped clean between changes and reused since it is all PUL - here is what it looks like without any inserts:
Still gorgeously yellow. :) |
Because of this awesomeness, you don't need to buy as many which means a cheaper start up stash!! I've never seen a diaper like this before and I absolutely love it. Kind of like a cover and inserts or a fitted I suppose. But I like that it is an AI2, with the pockets to keep the inserts in place! Pretty handy! Making it wonderfully grandparent and Daddy friendly. ;)
5 simple stars for a simple diapering system! |
Bailey mentioned that a lot of people double inserts at night (which is true) and suggests also doing so on long car trips. But she also noted that she doubles all the time because of the trimness - they are smaller than most AIO's (all-in-ones)!
Here's a few pics of the inserts so you can see them:

I was a little intimidated by the natural fiber inserts. I've never had the chance to use any. And I had remembered reading a few things about washing them properly before use... So I sent Bailey the question of how to wash. Her response was simple and right on target: "Both can be washed on hot, but the hemp will shrink if you do. I wash mine that way anyways for sanitary reasons. And even though they are smaller they seem just as absorbent." My hemp shrunk, but not very much.
Great working with Bailey! And she was super great about answering any question I had. |
As far as absorbency goes - this Wink diaper has beat out every other diaper I have tested! That includes big brands such as Glow Bug, Blueberry, and Applecheeks. But to be fair, none of those were using natural fibers like hemp or bamboo. Just a reminder, I tested using water. The top absorbency rate before was 10 tablespoons, this Wink diaper got 16 tablespoons!! 16!!
This is another instance when I wish I could give more than 5 stars. Seriously - I was amazed!! |

And another great feature is that the feel of the inserts is wonderfully soft. Not afraid to put those next to Sprout's little tush. ;) With the cover being wipe-able (all PUL) it definitely has its advantages but it isn't as soft as most other diapers for being up against a baby's body. However...the inserts cover most of that so it really comes down to your preference. I think I prefer convenience. :)
4 Stars - but only because the entire diaper isn't luxuriously soft. |
One optional feature that is pretty unique and very fun is customization. For an additional charge, Bailey sells hand painted designs on her diapers - and some of the ones she has done are adorable! My favorite is below, but head on over and check out some of the other awesome designs here.
I love all things feathery!! :) |
As far as price point goes, her prices are amazing compared to the some of the leading brands in this style (i.e. Flip Diapers). Her covers start at 8.99 vs. 14.99 and her inserts are insanely cheaper (plus they are organic!). I am tremendously impressed by this!!
I would give 10 stars if I could here! She does an awesome job at staying affordable!! |
Overall, Wink Diapers gets an easy 5! I love this diaper and I have a feeling I'm going to love it even more once Baby Girl arrives! And as noted before, I promise, there will be an update once I actually get to use these! ;)
5 Stars, hands down! |

I went to Sweet Bobbins... and I like the XL Mocha Flowers Wet Bag. Even if you don't cloth diaper... you can still use the wet bag in your diaper bag with extra clothes. If your Little has an accident, you can easily change their clothes and put the soiled ones in the wet bag!
ReplyDeleteThanks for letting me know. I'll have to fix that. ;)
DeleteReally need to get a few more wet bags. Only have one at the moment.
