My Absolute Favorite Diaper (WAHM Review & Giveaway) *CLOSED*

Hey all!!  I may be more excited about this WAHM review than any before.  Why?  Because Christina and I share the same faith.  We are sisters in Christ and since I first began talking to her last June or July, we had an instant connection because of this.  But I’m also excited about this review because I absolutely LOVE this diaper!

Cloth Diaper, Giveaway, One Size, All in One, AIO, AI2, All in Two, Overnight, Elephant, Gender Neutral, No Leaks, Hook & Loop, Velcro
I was given a free diaper in exchange for an open & honest review.  No other compensation was exchanged.  All opinions are my own.
Let me give you a brief background of this wonderful small business - like many moms, Christina wasn't happy with the diapers she was using.  So she decided to start making her own.  Soon, people were asking where she got her diapers and before she knew it, Fruit of the Womb Diapers was born!  Her and her hubby have nine kiddos!  Nine!  I love it!!  They also donate a portion of all their proceeds to Bridgehaven Pregnancy Support Center in Cedar Rapids, IA.  I really love this because I, myself, have recently taken a job at a pregnancy center.  :)

The diapers Christina makes are extremely unique.  She came up with the design herself and I have never seen anything like it.  As soon as I opened the package, before we even used it, I knew this diaper was going to be one of our new favorites.  You could instantly tell that it was made very well and that it was super absorbent.  It is, hands down, our new favorite diaper...especially overnight!

Cloth Diaper, Giveaway, One Size, All in One, AIO, AI2, All in Two, Overnight, Elephant, Gender Neutral, No Leaks, Hook & Loop, Velcro
Comes in pretty cute packaging!  ;)

Adorable little elephants.  :D

Cloth Diaper, Giveaway, One Size, All in One, AIO, AI2, All in Two, Overnight, Elephant, Gender Neutral, No Leaks, Hook & Loop, Velcro
And the bum!
I know that overnight is a struggle.  When people ask me how I like using cloth or how it has gone, I first say how much I absolutely love it but also note that there is a learning curve.  At this point, I usually mention that it took us quite a while to find an overnight solution and that we had to deal with leaks.  If I had not had the limitless access to cloth diaper blogs and facebook groups, I may have given up.  I think the key to overnight is to just keep trying until you find something that works for you.

And I bet that this one will!

This OS (one size) Fruit of the Womb diaper can be used as an AIO (All in One) or an AI2 (All in Two).  One insert is sewn in.  And a second insert can be snapped in.

Cloth Diaper, Giveaway, One Size, All in One, AIO, AI2, All in Two, Overnight, Elephant, Gender Neutral, No Leaks, Hook & Loop, Velcro
It does take a bit of time to dry....but soooooo worth it!
With the second insert snapped in, we have never had a leak overnight, not even close.  When I say “not even close” I’m sure some moms know what I’m talking about.  But let me clarify - there are mornings that Little Miss will wake up without wet sheets or wet PJ’s…but I can tell as I take off her diaper that there is not room for one more drop of pee and that she was headed straight for a leak if I had left her in it any longer.  This happens with probably half of my overnight solutions.  Which, for me, means that they aren’t the perfect solution.  Thankfully, this super cute elephant diaper is a perfect solution.

In fact, I decided to try it last night without the extra insert and it STILL worked wonderfully!  This means that I know I have a diaper that will work if she decides to become even more of a heavy wetter!  Which is awesome.  I know exactly where I will turn to if we start to leak at night again!!  Fruit of the Womb.

Another thing I would like to mention is that I am usually pretty leery of hook & loop (Velcro).  I had gotten a few diapers at the beginning with hook & loop that I’m positive will not be of use soon.  She has already discovered the tabs during changing time and it wouldn’t take much effort to pull them right open because they aren’t very sticky.  It is for this reason, I’ve steered clear of hook & loop diapers.  Even though they are a bit easier…

Thankfully, the hook & loop that Fruit of the Womb uses is phenomenal!  That stuff is like glue!  It sticks and means it!  This is another reason I fell head over heels for this diaper.  It is sooooo easy to use and I don’t have to worry about the tabs coming undone.

I also love the fold down rise.  Only a few of my diaper have this function and I’ve never seen one with hook & loop before.  I love it!  No snaps or hook & loop touching baby’s skin at any point and it makes the “one-size” part of the diaper pretty nice!

1. Rise shown up.   2. Rise shown folded down.   3. What the inside looks like when the rise is up (no hook & loop touching baby's sensitive skin).

But here is my absolute favorite part of this diaper – the tag!

Cute right??  :D
When a company is faith-based, I have more confidence in buying the product and working with the people.  Fruit of the Womb definitely holds that standard high.

Here's what the diaper looks like on:

Oh how I love those chunky legs!!
One thing I do need to mention, the turn around time for Fruit of the Womb dipes is two-three weeks  But with nine kids and being a tremendous success at her business, I can completely understand this.  I know it is hard for me to get much done during the week and I only have one little lady to contend with.  Fun fact – Christina’s youngest is just a month older than our Aelah.  We were belly buddies.  ;)

Big News: I'm Officially a WAHM!

Thanks to the inspiration of working with so many successful Work-at-Home-Moms (WAHMS), I have decided to venture out on my own.

Introducing.....

Chemical Free, Natural, Organic, Clean, Cleaning, Bath & Body, Body, All-Purpose, Carpet, Goo Remover, Goo Be Gone, Goo Gone, Essential Oils, Spring Cleaning, Small Business, Family Owned, Family Business, Family Operated, WAHM
Open for Business!

As some of you know, I believe that God has called me to be a stay at home mom.  My place is with my daughter and in my home.  Call me old-fashioned, but this is what I was born to do.

In an effort for me to make a bit of income (which we really do need), Hubby casually mentioned that I should sell some of the stuff that I make for us.

We have both learned so much about the chemicals in our cleaning products, as well as the chemicals in our bath & body products, that we've slowly started switching everything over.  And we both believe that there are a lot of other people out there, like us, who are sick of chemical ridden products.  Why add nasty ingredients when natural ones work just as well?

So... We have officially started selling natural cleaners and natural body products!  And I am SO excited!!  We named the shop after our daughter, Aelah, which is Hebrew for Terebinth Tree (find out more about her name here and more about the process of naming our shop here).

Live locally??  Keep an eye out for us at craft shows!  We had a first one last week and we've hit the ground runnin'!  ;)

We are starting small but hope to grow.  You see, I won't sell anything that I haven't perfected in our home.  And sometimes that takes time.  I tend to combine recipes to get the best of the best.  But sometimes something isn't quite right.  Our laundry detergent, for example, went through 2 or 3 changes before I settled on the best recipe: something that cleans well, lasts a long time, and doesn't leave any residue!

Rest assured that if you're buying from our shop, it is a tried and true recipe.  No chemicals.  No additives.  Just natural ingredients.

So what all are we selling anyways???

For the time being, here is our list:
  • All-Purpose Cleaner Concentrate
  • Carpet Cleaner Concentrate (great for use in carpet scrubbers as well as spot-cleaning)
  • Goo Remover
  • Laundry Detergent (not listed on the shop yet but will be very soon!)
  • Deodorant
  • Organic Vapor Rub
Chemical Free, Natural, Organic, Clean, Cleaning, Bath & Body, Body, All-Purpose, Carpet, Goo Remover, Goo Be Gone, Goo Gone, Essential Oils, Spring Cleaning, Small Business, Family Owned, Family Business, Family Operated, WAHM
Natural and Simple.

Follow us on Facebook here.

or

Favorite our Etsy shop here.

And....drum roll please...

Make sure to stop by on Monday for a giveaway sponsored by The Terebinth Tree.  One reader will win store credit of $25!

Plus, use discount code MYBLOG10 for 10% off!

If you could switch over one product: cleaning or bath & body....what would it be??

WAHM Review: Cute & Funky

I remember learning the 3 R's in grade school: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle!  And it didn't mean much to me then.  But things are different now.  I'm married.  I own my own home.  And I have a beautiful baby girl.

All of those things have made me reevaluate our spending, what goes in/on our bodies, and our impact on the environment.  Because of that, we have slowly started replacing some of our disposable items in an effort to save money, take control of our health, and keep a little less trash out of the landfills.

When I was looking for cloth wipes on Etsy, I stumbled across Cute & Funky.

Free products were exchanged for an open & honest review.  All opinions are my own.
And it was at this super cute little store that I discovered reusable facial rounds - an idea so simple, I can't believe I didn't think of it myself!  ;)  But I'm glad that someone did!

Brandie is a wonderful mommy who works from home so that she can be with her "little diva."  She has been in business since 2012 and has over 1,100 sales!!  From what I can tell she has a pretty positive reputation and my dealings with her have been wonderfully pleasant.

Her shop includes lots of great reusable items!

Nursing Pads (photo courtesy of Cute & Funky)

And the item of the hour:

I use cotton rounds every day to take off make-up and apply toner.  I love that there is a reusable option!  Cute & Funky carries quite a few different options and Brandie sent me some of each to review.

Simple and practical.
I suppose if I was building my ideal stash - these would be it.  They do the job and they are simply white.  That means if they are out on the counter, like mine are, they still have an "adult" feel.  I did notice that my toner stained them just a teensy bit.

You know how much I love organic!
Because bamboo is so absorbent, I wasn't a huge fan of these for removing make-up or applying toner.  The dampness didn't seem to last as long as I needed it to.  But I have a feeling these would be fantastic for applying cleanser and I plan to give that a try soon!  These also have that "adult" feel while being wonderfully organic!  They also seem sturdier than the cotton flannel.

Here is a comparison of the two...
A fun alternative!
These work just as nicely as the plain white ones!  But they are much more fun!  ;)  As nice as having an "adult" feel might be.  I like to jazz things up now and then.  This will be a pleasant little surprise on the bathroom counter.

My very favorite!
The minky rounds are especially nice for delicate and sensitive skin since the minky is extra soft!  Plus, they are just so "cute & funky."  ;)  I absolutely loved the feel of the minky against my skin and giggled a bit when I saw the stars in the mirror.

Overall, Cute & Funky is an adorable store.  Her prices aren't horrible, her products are high-quality, and Brandi is a pleasure to work with!

She has even decided to offer you all an exclusive discount code!  Use bloglove10 at checkout for 10% off.

As a thank you be sure to like, favorite, or follow Cute & Funky on your favorite social network:

WAHM Review (+ Giveaway): Skin Deep Naturals *CLOSED*

SkinDeep Naturals provided me with free product in exchange for an open & honest review.

I am SO excited to be bringing you another fantastic Work At Home Momma!  Jessica is her name and clean cleansing is her game.  hehe.  But seriously...in her own words, "As a licensed esthetician (and as a wife and mother), it’s important to make sure my family and I use clean, natural products that will help keep our face and bodies healthy and beautiful. Scanning the seemingly endless shelves of natural skin care products left me underwhelmed - effective beauty solutions produced using eco and socially responsible practices at a reasonable price point were scarce. That’s why I created Skin Deep Naturals. I formulate each product using ingredients you can pronounce....

A few years old...but still super precious!

I absolutely love Jessica's Etsy Shop!  She has so many fantastic products.  This is what she sent for the review:

Cute little package right??
Spearmint Lip Butter
This little tube of heaven is why I stumbled across Skin Deep Naturals in the first place.  We are, little by little, trying to cut out chemicals from our every day products.  My lips are horrid in the winter and I have an awful habit of picking at the dry skin.  Eek!  If I don't have something to put on my lips it ends in a travesty and my lips look awful.  Skin Deep Naturals is where I ended up when searching for something natural.  And it is awesome!  I love that I can pronounce all of the ingredients, how delightful it smells, and how wonderful it makes my lips feel!

A sample of Daily Exfoliating Facial Cleanser
This stuff is AMAZING!  As soon as I opened the package I loved the smell.  It was invigorating.  And I could feel the exfoliation and cleansing.  After rinsing, my skin was wonderfully soft, smelled delightfully, and I felt....well...renewed would be a good word.  And I'm not exaggerating.  I swear.  I can't wait to wash my face again tonight.  And the awesome part?  My skin was still wonderfully soft this morning.  Almost as soft as Baby Girl's cheeks.  ;)

Eye Make-Up Removal Pads
I have been looking for ways to cut down on our waste.  And recently I had thought about looking into reusable "cotton" pads for eye make-up removal.  These work great!  Jessica noted that her best seller is the sherpa.  While much softer, I actually think I prefer the terry cloth (both organic by the way).  I had a pretty clean face the day I used the terry cloth.  I hadn't worn make-up the day before and was using it to apply toner.  But the terry cloth managed to remove mascara from two days before that I didn't even realize was left!  I was impressed!  But I did really enjoy the softness of the sherpa.  :)  A nice perk?  I can just toss these into the hanging wet bag I have for our diapers!  To give you an idea of what size these are - I actually thought these were nursing pads at first....they are the perfect size!  With an added layer of eco-PUL these would be great for that purpose!

Super-Size Cleansing Pad
She also sent a larger style cleansing pad (also available in terry or sherpa).  I have used this to wash my face - great texture, nice & gentle on your skin.  And I have used it for a steam facial compress!  She gives the instructions of her Etsy page but basically you get a bowl of warm water, add 10-15 drops of essential oils, soak the cleansing pad, gently ring most of the water out, and lay it on top of your face.  I tried it with a mixture of Tea Tree & Grapefruit oils since both are good for your skin & energizing!  It was heaven.  As I was laying there I thought it would be perfect with some peppermint oil for when you are congested.  I'll definitely be using this again.  These would also be terrific for cloth wipes if you cloth diaper!

Skin Deep Naturals offers a ton of other great products.  For the other cloth diapering mommas out there:

Cloth Diaper Safe! (photo courtesy of SkinDeep Naturals)
Jessica's goal is to one day be able to make her products outside of her home so that she is able to be certified as gluten-free!  I absolutely love her ambition.  Here is just a peek at what else her shop has to offer:

Love her branding!  Simple, authentic, & natural!  (photo courtesy of SkinDeep Naturals)

As a thank you, it would be great if you could add Skin Deep Naturals on social media!

Great news!  Jessica has kindly decided to offer a giveaway for you all as well!!  Enter below:

My Cloth Wipe Stash - WAHM Update

I was given free product in exchange for an open & honest review.
Post also contains affiliate links.

My cloth wipe stash consists of Sweet Bobbins wipes, GroVia wipes, Buttons flannel wipes, and those tiny baby wash cloths that you get like 500 in a pack (haha, okay, I might be exaggerating a bit...).

To get a thorough overview of what I thought of the wipes Sweet Bobbins sent me before baby came, go here.  But, the short story is, I loved them.  I thought they were much better made than the wipes that I already had and so much softer.  I still stand by that.  In fact, they are, by far, my favorite wipes!

As noted in my initial review they are SO soft!  And much thicker than the other wipes.  If Hubby has his preference, he always grabs these ones....just to be sure he doesn't get his hands messy.  They just aren't always on the top of the stack.  :P

The GroVia wipes are also fairly thick, they just aren't quite as soft.

The Buttons flannel wipes aren't soft or thick.  But because of how thin they are...it makes it fairly easy to get in all of those cracks and crevices.  ;)

And those baby wash cloths.  Honestly, I started using them because I had an extreme excess.  I got like 3 packs of 20....or something like that.  There was no way I was ever going to use 60 wash cloths.  So I thought I'd stick them in our cloth wipe stash.  They are super thin...and a bit smaller, so good for cracks and crevices.  But I particularly like them for the diaper bag!  They are small and a little less bulky than actual "cloth wipes."

But back to Sweet Bobbins...
The only negative thing I have to say about these awesome is that they are adorable as well!

Seriously cute right?
I end up only using one side of these wipes because I don't want to get the prints all stained up and messy.  But I could use both sides if I needed to...so I suppose it's no big deal...  ;)

Angela & Rene of Sweet Bobbins gave Learning to Be 31 readers an exclusive discount code for their Etsy Shop.

And son't forget about all of the other awesome things they make:

(and this is just a peek....)

I would love it if you would show Sweet Bobbins some love and follow them one way or another:
